A "16 year-old" in the house; Christmas Egg Nog!

I have really been slacking on the blog! Sorry loyal blog readers.

Monday, Colin turned 16! I have a sixteen year old in the house! I just keep thinking of all the things I can have him help me with! YAH-HOO! He pulls his driver's license in a few weeks and then we are off!

Sad news out of Omaha today! A Mall shooting! I was just at that mall last week-end. Yes, I was trying on shoes at Von Maur's less than a week ago! I feel such deep sorrow for those families that lost a love one today! Such a sad world.

I thought I would make a batch of my favorite Christmas time drink! EGGNOG! I know what you are all thinking--raw eggs--but I will tell you that this Eggnog is to die for! REALLY! I make a batch and share with a few close friends.--one's who really appreciate good eggnog!

Here it is:

12 eggs (separated)
1/2 gallon milk
2 pints cool whip
2 packages dream whip
1 1/2 cup sugar
1-Tablespoon vanilla
1-teaspoon nutmeg

Beat 12 egg whites, 1/2 cup sugar and the vanilla until it forms stiff peaks. Set aside.

Mix 12 egg yolks until frothy. Set this mixture to the side.

Mix nutmeg, 1 cup sugar, milk, dream whip and mix well. Slowly fold in egg mixture and cool whip.

This mixture will separate so it just needs to be stirred well. It works well in a punch bowl. Have guests dip way deep to the bottom to get the best taste.

I LOVE eggnog so I'm totally excited to try this recipe! I've never made it from scratch.

So sad about the mall shootings. It had very much the flavor of our Trolley Square shooting almost a year ago. It is hard to think someone would do that to another, even though he was suffering.
