Just a few minutes ago I was reading a friend's blog! She had a great idea that I hope you will try. If you are willing to post an idea here on my blog for others to read, I will be sending each person who comments a little "prize."
Marilyn's idea was this:

"... First we drove to Starbucks....and I ordered us Caramel Apple drinks....and also bought a bottle of Cinnamon syrup for each of us. She had never had the drink before so we were both in heaven. Then a nummy lunch at Stella's where she opened her gift bag...to find Apple Juice, whipped cream and caramel sauce....so she can go home and make her and Tom a Caramel Apple nightcap. There was also a card....with a homemade gift certificate. The game was that I was going to take her to a wowzer store....and she had to pick out her own birthday gift (or gifts) (since I haven't been able to go out and shop) ...something for her...not someone else....and she had to spend the entire amount and come within 4 cents of the total. We were both wowed by the wowzer store ...and we both had so much fun picking out fun things." THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART! "I was very excited because I found my favorite earrings there! I have had these earrings for about a year. And every time I wear them, honestly, I have MANY comments from everyone I meet..."Oh those are the CUTEST earrings!" So, several months ago I decided that I needed to have an "earring ministry." In case that sounds strange, let me explain. My best friend in Portland, Cynthia, is one of the most amazing women I have ever met and taught me many years ago about service. She works in a hospital....and is always busy....but she told me that she has a "cake ministry." I asked her what in the heck she was talking about. She said that she makes homemade over-the-top birthday cakes for everyone she works with....which is a ton of people. She finds out that person's favorite cake...and then makes a wowzer (my favorite word of this post) edition. She said, "It is such a little thing, but it really has come to matter to these people and it is a great way to spread joy." I left that visit thinking I needed a personal joy ministry. One time, again wearing the "magic" earrings, and after receiving several compliments, I decided that I needed an earring ministry. I would try and duplicate the magic ones. So I headed off to the bead store....spent an arm and a leg.....and came home....and found out how HARD they were to reproduce! I think I made one and a half pairs. And they are still sitting with the rest of the beads. The plan was that each time I wear the magic earrings, I would have another pair in my pocket. And when someone would compliment me, I would smile and bring out a pair from my pocket and say, "Have a great day!" Ta-da! Fun, huh? Well, it was until I tried to make them! But today, at the wowzer store, I found them. Several pair. Enough to make a few people happy."
This is where your comments come in. This is what Marilyn is asking: "So..........let's hear some comments on what you would do, to start your own "bring joy to others" ministry. Think of a little something that you could do to make the world a better place. Or the world better for just one person. Like my sweet friend, Cynthia, sharing her love of baking...and my almost-earring business, what would you do?"

Since the name of my blog is "Finding the Happy in Today and More," I thought this would be a great thing to do.
I have committed to the following: When I hear someone around me say that they are having a crazy, wild day, I am going to go to my magical freezer and pull out a meal for them. I will deliver it to them with all the fixings for a complete meal and hope that their day is just a little less crazy, wild and busy!

Just yesterday I did this! I gave a jar of homemade Strawberry-lime jam to a friend who was having a sucky day. I'm learning to make homemade bread...so once that is mastered, mine will be homemade bread and homemade strawberry-lime jam ministry!

I have really been thinking about this. I have decided to make my "famous" cookies and keep a bunch in the freezer. That way I can give away cookie happiness!

Loving this!! Thank you!! I would have to say, as the official Disney girl, that my 'magic' is spreading the magic of Disney. I find out people's favorite disney character and will make them earrings of that character for their birthday. And I have a rep and am sought out whenever anyone is planning a trip--and I'll meet with them and share with them all the little secrets that I've gathered over the years--I love it and they do too.
But with this blog you got me thinking I'm gonna have to do my pumpkin zucchini nut bread... and make a goal to give it away--what a fun thing to think about. Thanks!! You're the best!!
I'm behind on my blog reading...and I was so happy to see this posted here! I'm glad that you loved the "ministry" idea. I have to tell you...Sophia has been here for the past two days. We were out on the balcony...and I was talking to my septic tank guy below when Sophia said, "Gosh those are cute earrings!" I reached into my pocket and pulled out my "ministry" pair for her. She squealed...and then my new plumber friend said, "I think your earrings are cute too!" So funny!

what an inspired idea. i need more time to think about it, as at the moment it seems that my freezer is too small for any of the food ministries i have in mind. but i do love to love people with food, so it will have to be something like that.
